Middle school sets up Taiwan drama analysis as optional course

A middle school in Chongqing Municipality has opened Taiwanese TV Drama analysis and elegance cultivation as optional courses, reported chinanews.com on Tuesday.

Zhang Bo, teacher of the new department told reporters that the introduction of trendy dramas into class is a good way to guide adolescents. Students can have better understanding of Taiwan society and culture, distinguish right from wrong. They could also practice play writing, shooting and team work ability..
　　
"The dreams of romantic love and dates motivate them to study harder." Zhang added.

Another popular lesson, named Graceful Maiden Club, "aims to cultivate elegant and confident girls via telling them how to dress and get along with people," Yang Bailing, the class teacher said.

Zhang Xuezhong, director of Curriculum Amendment department said it is the first time for Bashu Middle School to launch optional courses for senior students.

"The 52 subjects，including Game Theory, sado, cooking, magic design and theater performance, are well received among students. Some say that one-hour-long lesson every week is not enough", the director said.

Qin Hongda, a 16-year-old male student in Bashu Middle School said he is a super Taiwanese TV drama fan and likes romances such as Fated to Love You, Autumn's Concertoand thrill Channel-X.
